Redeemer is celebrating 50 years of ministry! Below are two ways for you to get involved and give thanks for fifty fantastic years!

I’ve said it many times before. What could be more important in the life of the Christian faith than having the opportunity to gather for worship and being open to hearing God’s Word? This is what the mission of the church is all about. After all, behind every ministry detail, plan, meeting, program, hymn, class, sermon, conversation, meal, or prayer is an effort to include another human being into the fullness of God’s grace. This is what God has been up to at Redeemer for 50 years! Not only do we get to look forward to God’s preferred future for Redeemer, we have an opportunity to engage in partnership with the church beyond our walls!

Hillside Community Lutheran Church in Spring Hill, Kansas recently began its ministry as a mission start congregation in the Central States Synod. The congregation began as a small gathering of people interested in hearing God’s Word, studying the Bible, and growing in faith over three years ago. Now, Hillside Community Lutheran Church has called a new pastor, Rev. Janice Hawley, to lead it in developing its mission and ministry. Together, they are eager to share God’s grace and the Good News of Jesus Christ through Word and Sacrament in the southern region of the Kansas City metro area. Check out some of the exciting things HCLC reports that God is doing as they began their ministry this summer:

Defining the role of the Music / Worship Leader and hiring an acoustic guitar player and singer

Finishing the sanctuary altar’s floor and back walls & baptismal font and paraments

Responding to the needs of the Multi-Service Center who gives food out to those in need

Participated in Spring Hill’s Fall Festival on Sept. 17th at 10 a.m. HCLC walked in the Parade and had a booth again this year! (See attached picture!)

Establishing an Outreach Strategy and delivering 5,000 door hangers to Spring Hill and Edgerton homes to ‘Come & See’ as our Worship and Sunday School swung into high gear Sept. 25th

Inviting others by holding Community BBQs, meeting at the Farmer’s Market, and a Friday 11:45 a.m. Book Lunch Bunch to read a recent book and study the faith questions that come up

Seeking more funding from other ELCA Churches and Mission Development Partners

Talking with others who stop by the church building just to see…

Sending out a Weekly Devotional and Schedule of Activities… (we have doubled our ‘interested party’ e-mail distribution from 10 to approximately 22 families!)

Indeed, there is something exciting about new beginnings. And there is always something urgent about sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world! So how can we help?

Redeemer’s 50th Anniversary Task Force, in collaboration with the Congregation Council, is inviting every member of Redeemer Lutheran Church to participate in an important event over the next year titled, ‘The 50 For 50 Campaign.’ Every time we gather for worship, a meeting, activity, concert, or event we are simply asking you to reach into your pocket for 50 cents and place it in the large container near our Welcome Center in the Gathering Area. This means that we are offering one cent in thanksgiving for every year of our ministry at Redeemer! But it’s also a meaningful, prayerful, and personal way we can urgently respond to support the mission of a brand new regional partner in ministry, Hillside Community Lutheran Church.

As we reminisce about our past at Redeemer, we have a wonderful opportunity to build upon our foundations for the future and our mission of being “Chosen by God…to love one another.” I hope you will join me in helping share the love of Christ this next year through your prayers, partnership, and generous mission support for Hillside Community Lutheran Church. Let’s help give back what God has first given us!

Your partner in ministry,

Pastor Chirs

One Key Can Be Grand!

We are happy to announce that a 5’8” Yamaha Grand Piano has been delivered to Redeemer! Come to worship and hear the beautiful sounds of our new instrument! As part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration, Redeemer members and friends of the congregation donated money to this initiative by purchasing piano keys. This is a 50th Anniversary gift that will continue to inspire worshippers at Redeemer for years to come!! The piano will significantly enhance the quality of our musical accompaniment with worship and other events including our Redeemer Concert Series. We thank you for your generous support of this “melodious mission!”
